Bankstown Sports Cycling Track Racing
Currently running Winter Wednesday Night Training
Bankstown Sports Cycling is fortunate to have access to Australia's greatest velodrome, the Dunc Gray Velodrome. The facility is indoors, which allows use in any kinds of weather.
The Dunc Gray Velodrome was the cycling venue of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The track is 250 meters around at its shortest point, with
the corners banked to a maximum of 42 degrees. The floor is constructed of Baltic Pine boards and as a result, it has an extremely fast surface.
Track bikes are traditionally set up with an aggressive riding position,
have a single fixed gear and no brakes!
Winter Wednesday Night Training
Bankstown Cycling conducts training on Wednesday nights, starting 6/6.30pm with the velodrome closing at 9.30pm. The cost is $5 for school age juniors and $10 for registered senior riders. For visiting riders some loan bikes are available but please pre-book to ensure availability. All riders must be at least 8yrs old.
As part of this we run a 160 lap bunch ride from 7pm above the blue line, to allow juniors, beginners, and people doing specific efforts the bottom of the track. Riders can jump in and drop out as they see fit.
Summer Track Racing
During the summer months, Bankstown CC combines with Parramatta CC to conduct track racing at the DGV on Wednesday nights. See our calendar for details or go to our contact page to ask for further information.
